The Minnesota Firefighter Initiative is making big strides to improve firefighter health in Minnesota with a legislative initiative and training designed to ensure firefighters are aware of their heightened health risks.

MnFIRE has been awarded a grant to train all Minnesota firefighters to become “MnFIRE Aware” of their higher risks for cancer, cardiac issues and emotional trauma. So far more than 400 training sessions have already been completed or scheduled, but time is running out to ensure all of the more than 700 Minnesota departments and 22,000 firefighters receive this crucial training by the June 30 deadline.
