MnDOT is observing Worker Memorial Day:

“A day to honor those who have been killed or injured while working on highways during their work.”

MnDOT spokeswoman Anne Meyer:

“In Minnesota since 1960 there’s been 35 MnDOT workers and 15 contractors who have lost their lives while working on Minnesota highways.”

Meyer says motorists need to stay alert. She says work zones constantly change with lane shifts, closures, and moving workers and vehicles.
