With less than a month to go in the legislative session, Governor Walz and Senate Republicans remain far apart on several key budget issues, including a proposed gas tax–which passed in the House Monday. In spite of their differences, Walz says…

“I think the tone is still very positive–you know people need to stake out their positions and hold firm, we’re prepared now over the next couple days, we get to May 1st, that’s where we start talking and have kind of apples to apples comparisons and we can start moving in the right direction.”

The legislative session deadline is May 20th. If lawmakers don’t reach a budget agreement–a special session would be necessary
