Senator Carla Nelson: “Do not make health care more expensive in our state.”

…said Minnesota Senate Republicans last night (Tues) as they turned back Democrats’ attempt to continue the health care provider tax which is scheduled to sunset. Minneapolis Democrat Jeff Hayden warns loss of that revenue will not only have a “grave impact” on health care access for some Minnesotans…

…”but it’s also gonna put the pressure that we know is happening in other parts of our budget, because the General Fund will have to come into play to supplement that.”

But Rochester Republican Carla Nelson says if the two-percent health care provider tax continues…

“It would immediately undo the work that we have worked so hard to just minimally bend the cost curve.

But Governor Tim Walz is adamant that “the provider tax is not going to expire.”
