Governor Walz and House Democrats remain at odds with Senate Republicans over budget targets as the clock ticks on the legislative session. Key differences remain in education, health care, and transportation funding. Carleton College political expert Steven Schier says about hints of compromise earlier in the session…

“There’s been a lot of happy talk about how we can all get along, Democrats and Republicans in the state legislature, but in fact, there are stark and large policy differences between the Senate Republicans and the House Democrats.”

Schier says it will likely be difficult to bridge those gaps any time soon. There’s just over a week-and-half remaining in the legislative session.
