The Minnesota Department of Public Safety is being proactive to educate the public about the new hands-free cell phone law–which goes into effect on August 1st.

13 of 15 states who have enacted hands-free legislation in the last number of years have seen an average 15% reduction in the number of fatal crashes that occur within those jurisdictions

Mike Hanson with the Office of Traffic Safety says that would mean 50 fewer deaths in Minnesota each year due to distracted driving involving cell phones. More information on the new law can be found at handsfreemn.org.
