The countdown to Saturday’s fishing opener is on. The DNR’s Brad Parsons says fishing plays a huge role in the state’s economy:

“You know fishing has over a five billion dollar economic impact in the state… it’s huge. And people…people want to enjoy it and it supports a great deal of jobs. And we really have a tradition in this state about people wanting to get out and fish. The opener can be a real celebration for folks.”

Around 500-thousand anglers are expected to take part in this weekend’s opener.
