Still no progress at the capitol on a state budget. Legislative leaders met with Governor Tim Walz for a few hours Sunday night. After the talks, Walz reiterated his position that they’ve made concessions but negotiations have stalled as Senate Republicans are sticking to a no new taxes approach even as session deadlines loom.

“It’s not as if there’s a single person in Minnesota who did not know the 20th of May was when we needed to get done. But now we’re about 8 days out from that. We need to see some meaningful movement.”

Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka came into the meeting with a power point to detail Minnesota ranking among the top taxed states in the country. Two sides are expected to resume talks Monday.
