The Minnesota House on a vote of 125-5 has passed a bill that prohibits the use of certain toxic chemicals in products–including mattresses.

“It’s toxic flame retardant chemicals that are in a lot things, and really unnecessarily, and so what we’re trying to do here is limit those chemicals so we’re limiting the exposure to firefighters so they don’t see the negative health impacts of that.”

The bill’s author, Representative Jamie Becker-Finn from Roseville. The bill is headed next to the Senate for a vote.
