Cleveland Public School is taking action to ensure all students and staff have healthy eating options during the school day and at afterschool programming.
They started this year by implementing a snack cart for morning snacks for elementary and afterschool snacks for other programs. Childhood is a critical time for growth and development. Providing healthy snack options help meet the demands of their growing bodies and brains.
The success of the snack cart program has encouraged Cleveland Public School to add more snack options as well as looking at meal prep options. To do so, the school has been awarded a grant from the Brown, Nicollet, Le Sueur, and Waseca Counties Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (BNLW SHIP) to purchase a chillable mobile snack cart and food steamer.
