84 million American adults have prediabetes, but only 12% know they have it. Those who act quickly and make lifestyle changes can delay the onset of developing diabetes.
VINE Faith in Action is committed to helping fight this epidemic by offering a free diabetes program to help those locally affected by the disease.
“Diabetes is a growing problem, including here in Mankato,” VINE’s Diabetes Prevention Program Coordinator, Katie Simon said.
VINE’s free Diabetes Prevention Program helps people lose weight, eat healthier, get active, and reduce their risk of developing diabetes. A lifestyle coach and class members offer help and support over the course of a year. All adults at risk of diabetes are welcome including people with physical, sensory and mild intellectual disabilities.
Class begins on Wednesday, July 19 from 3:30-4:30 pm in the VINE Adult Community Center.
There are a limited number of spots available in the class and they are filling up quickly.
