The Health and Human Services bill gets a hearing this morning (8:30) amid controversy after a key provision to make emergency insulin supplies more affordable was left out of the bill. Democrat Matt Little has this message for supporters of the measure:
“Don’t give up yet special session has not started and special session has not adjourned, so there’s time, so make some phone calls, make some emails to the people you already know to contact that you’ve been contacting all this session and tell people to get this done.”
It’s not clear why the measure, which had bi-partisan support, did not make into the bill. The Alec Smith Emergency Insulin Act is named after a 26-year-old Minneapolis man who died in 2017 because he was unable to afford his insulin.
