Minnesota’s 2019 regular and special legislative sessions were by most accounts a draw, with neither Democrats nor Republicans getting significant traction on their respective agendas. Speaker Melissa Hortman indicates House Democrats will likely try again next year on major agenda items:

“Gun violence prevention; changing the standard on sexual harassment so that victims get a day in court if they’re sexually harassed; paid family leave.”

Republicans will likely try to hold off any tax increases and push for greater government efficiency and reining in spending on health and human services programs.
