The Blue Earth County License Center will open in its new, renovated location on Monday, June 10. The License Center, which is currently located in the basement of the Government Center, will move to the first floor of the building. The 1,679 sq. ft. space features a large, accommodating area for both the public and staff to conduct business and offers easy access parking on 5th Street.

The renovated space is part of the larger building renovation and expansion project, which includes a new 344-stall parking ramp, 37,000 sq. ft. building addition and complete renovation of the existing building. The ramp and building addition, along with the renovation of the License Center and the Women, Infant, and Children’s Clinic, make up the first phase of the project and is expected to be completed this summer. The second phase will be the renovation of the remainder of the original Government Center and is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2020. The decision to renovate the License Center during phase one was made in order to avoid interruption of services for residents.

The License Center is where citizens can obtain drivers licenses, vehicle tabs, marriage licenses, birth and death certificates, fishing and hunting licenses, and more.
