On December 2nd, 1989, country legend Randy Travis scored his tenth number one hit with ‘It’s Just A Matter Of Time’.

The song was written by Brook Benton and Clyde Otis, and the original recording by Benton was on the R&B charts in 1959 for nine weeks. A version by Glen Campbell in 1987 went to number 7, and a version done by Sonny James in 1970 went to the top of the country charts.

Randy Travis’ spin on the classic would become one of his biggest songs, and it helped propel the album which it came from, ‘No Holdin’ Back’, reach 2 million copies in sales.
