On December 4th, 2004, Gary Allan’s song ‘Nothing On But The Radio’ became his third song to hit the top of the charts.
Written by Byron Hill, Brice Long, and Odie Blackmon, the song came off of Allan’s album ‘See If I Care’.
The lyrics detail a romantic scene between two lovers, being intimate with one another while listening to the radio.
It was during this song’s greatest success that its singer Gary Allan was dealing with a great tragedy in his life: just a couple months prior, on October 25th, 2004, Gary Allan’s wife committed suicide in their home.
Hitting number one did help him get back on his feet, however: he once said that getting the top spot was “the best therapy in the world”.
