Governor Tim Walz announced the fourth and final portion of his bonding proposal (Wednesday) morning. Three area projects were listed in the public safety and quality of life package. The Governor is proposing a ten-point-five million-dollar grant for capital upgrades in Caswell Park in North Mankato. Walz is proposing over 18 million dollars to remodel the St. Peter campus for the Minnesota Sex Offender Program. The Governor is also proposing 125-thousand dollars for the predesign of a new Bureau of Criminal Apprehension regional office and laboratory facility in Mankato. Walz is proposing more than two billion dollars in projects to be bonded. Senate Republicans want less than half that amount. Any bonding bill needs a supermajority to pass.
