The Republican-controlled state Senate passed a bill to distribute 841 million dollars in federal COVID relief money to Minnesota municipalities, but House Democrats say they want to take a closer look at how that money is parceled out. Republican Eric Lucero from Dayton warns if division bogs down the legislature…

…”that would then result in the governor once again unilaterally making decisions on how dollars should be spent…. It’s been how many months now that the legislature has, for the most part, been neutered?”

Mankato Democrat Jack Considine fires back:

“He keeps saying that the governor will get to spend this money. That only happens if the Republicans take their ball and go home.”

Senate Republicans leaders say they’ll adjourn the special session Friday.
