State Health officials are monitoring a potential COVID-19 hot spot in Southern Minnesota.

“Mower County has had 73 new cases and now has the second-highest incidents of cases in the state.”

Kris Ehresmann with the Minnesota Department of Health says they have already been partnering with local labs to increase testing.

“That has helped to identify the situation and provide us with more information. And recognizing that there is both workplace potential for exposure as well as activity in the community, the testing is being expanded.”

Pop up testing sites are planned in Austin on Saturday and Sunday with a capacity of around one-thousand people each day.
