Yesterday Minneapolis St. Paul International airport announced their “Travel Confidently” plan aimed at enhanced protection against COVID-19. Metropolitan Airports Commission CEO Brian Ryks (ricks) says a project already underway to expand common areas in Terminal 1 will be another tool in the long term for them to keep passengers healthy and moving.
“It’s probably about 60 to 70 percent complete, and that will help us.”
Ryks says the new space is designed to accommodate 55 million passengers over the course of a given year.
“We’re adding about 100-thousand square feet, what that additional space will do for us is really allow us to promote enhanced social distancing.”
Ryks says they do expect an uptick in travel surrounding the 4th of July holiday, making this a perfect time to begin rolling out their health safety plan.
