A North Mankato man is facing several charges after allegedly speeding and attempting to flee officers early Saturday morning. Blue Earth County court records say 32-year-old Christopher Peters was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine precursors with intent to manufacture, two counts of driving while intoxicated and fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle. Authorities say they attempted to pull over Peters’ vehicle around three a.m. before the vehicle suffered a disabling mechanical failure on Lor Ray Drive. The court report said Peters tried get away from officers but was eventually captured. Authorities say a backpack in the vehicle started smoking in the vehicle and was extinguished by firefighters from Mankato Public Safety.
