A rural Redwood Falls man is alive after being pinned underneath a fallen tree for 4 days.

“Nearly 30 years in this job and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it, and I don’t think I ever will again.”

Redwood County Chief Deputy Mark Farasyn says Monday afternoon family members found 59-year-old Jonathan Ceplecha pinned under a tree. He was alert and conscious and told rescuers he had been pinned since Thursday morning, about 100 total hours.

“Redwood Falls fire department did an amazing job at the extrication because it is something that you don’t just dive in and do, you’ve got to study the situation and take all the necessary precautions.”

Ceplecha, a veteran and teacher in Marshall, was airlifted to the scene and taken to the hospital.
