A fourth special session of the state legislature gets underway today. Governor Walz called the session to again extend the COVID-19 peacetime emergency by 30 days. Hamline University political expert David Schultz says…

“It’ll be predictable that the House will support him, the Senate will suppose him, but the real question is going to be are we going to see the Republican Senate now do another vote on another appointee and oust somebody from the Walz administration.”

In last month’s special session, Senate Republicans voted to oust Walz’s Labor Commissioner Nancy Leppink. Today’s special session is set to convene Friday at noon.
