After the GOP-led Senate voted to remove his temporary emergency powers and not to confirm his Commerce Commissioner Friday, Governor Walz says looking ahead his priorities are…

“That we tackle COVID, that we think about what budgeting looks like, a bonding bill that I’ve been after for over a year, so I’ll do my best to try to bring them back, but my plea would be here, just help me out a little bit here in the legislature, give us a little bit of a hand instead of being a hindrance on each other.”

Republicans argue that Walz’s emergency powers exclude input from the legislature. Walz’s emergency powers will remain in effect for at least 30 more days. Even though the Senate voted to remove the powers, the DFL-controlled House voted in favor of the governor.
