The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is awarding $1.25 million to local health organizations that focus on providing Minnesotans with non-narcotic options for treating pain. The MDH’s Dana Farley says the opioid epidemic is not just about mismanaging pain pills, it’s also about mismanaging pain…

“Pain is one of the most common reasons why people go to a physician, unfortunately, chronic opioid use has been correlated with a number of people developing an addiction or overdose.”

Farley says opioid-free pain management can include physical, exercise, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
