It won’t be until at least late spring or early summer that the general public will have access to the COVID-19 vaccine. The state Health Department’s Kris Ehresmann says demand for the vaccine far outstrips supply:
“Because doses are allocated by the federal government and are based on our population we are not able to request more doses than what are being sent to us each week. There is a limited number of doses everywhere. So we’re taking what comes to us and getting it to its final destination as quickly as possible.”
Minnesota has been allocated 297,350 doses this year.
