Senate Republicans like that Governor Tim Walz plans to activate the National Guard when Derek Chauvin goes on trial for George Floyd’s death — but continue saying “no” to the governor’s request for 35-million-dollars to get law enforcement ready — and to repay communities that sent help during last summer’s riots:
“Minneapolis needs to show some sign that it’s gonna get its house in order, and I think Minneapolis needs to be prepared to pay for reimbursing for mutual aid that happened this summer.”
Ham Lake Republican Michelle Benson says “Minneapolis let their city go: …deciding to let the 3rd Precinct burn… and then following that, continual calls from the city council to de-fund the police.”
