Reports say the state has received its first batch of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. This comes after Governor Tim Walz said Minnesota would be getting over 45-thousand J&J doses this week. The newest vaccine has a lower efficacy rate but only requires a single dose, unlike the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Walz said it was exciting for more doses to arrive because it means another tool to help end the COVID-19 pandemic. As of Wednesday, about 54-percent of residents over the age of 65 have received a shot, with the state wanting to reach a goal of 70-percent before expanding priority groups.
