President Joe Biden has proclaimed this “National Immigrant Heritage Month”. The state People of Color and Indigenous (POCI) Caucus says it’s a time to “address the new and continued burdens faced by those starting a life in a different country.”

“Immigrants, they play a huge role in Minnesota and in our community, they are our neighbors, they are our essential workers, they are our students.”

State Representative Samantha Vang of Brooklyn Center is Hmong-American and says she happy to be where she is because her parents made the tough decision to flee from a war-torn country and come here to make a better life for their kids.
