As the last warm days eventually give way to fall weather, thoughts may turn to one last yard clean-up for the year. With that, comes a reminder from Forest Management officials that it is illegal to dump trash, including yard waste, on public roads. Kirsten Rosenberger was part of a Superior National Forest crew that collected two tons of junk from a three mile stretch of road during a clean-up effort last spring.
“Unfortunately the hardest thing to take care of was the black plastic bags filled with soil or yard waste. It was really difficult to pick up without everything just falling to pieces anyway.”
Rosenberger says people in Minnesota have many options at their disposal for getting rid of yard waste, or any other garbage, in a safe and legal way.
