Democrat state Representative Zack Stephenson of Coon Rapids announced today that he will be leading a renewed effort to legalize sports betting in Minnesota in the upcoming legislative session.
“Today 32 states, including every one of Minnesota’s neighbors, has implemented legal sports betting. Minnesotans should be able to engage in legal sports betting right here in Minnesota.”
Stephenson says he doesn’t have the particulars of a bill at this time, but his goal is to devise a plan that will work for the state and Native American tribes of Minnesota. On the Senate side, Republican Roger Chamberlain of Lino Lakes says he’s taken the lead on sports betting for his caucus in the past and will continue to do so. Both lawmakers are hoping for bi-partisan support
