Mankato-A portion of Riverfront Drive will close for approximately two hours on Sunday, December 26 for the annual Dakota Wokiksuye Memorial Ride, which honors the 38 Dakota Warriors executed in Mankato on this date in 1862. The event also remembers two chiefs who were executed. The horseback ride begins around 9 a.m. in Land of Memories Park, 300 Amos Owen Lane, and continues onto Highway 169. Riders cross the southbound lanes to the first exit onto the northbound lane of Riverfront Drive to make their way to Reconciliation Park, 100 N. Riverfront Dr. Once at the monument site, the northbound and southbound lanes of Riverfront Drive (between Main and Plum streets) will be closed for approximately two hours.
