Governor Tim Walz and counterparts from other states talked with President Biden  about the COVID situation as the omicron variant continues to surge.  The president says to support hospitals, the federal government has stockpiled medical supplies and is mobilizing an additional one-thousand military doctors, nurses and medics:

“We’ve already deployed emergency response teams in Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, Vermont, New Hampshire and New Mexico.  We’re ready to provide more hospital beds as well.”

The president told Walz and other governors another priority is better access to COVID tests:

“Seeing how tough it was for some folks to get a test this weekend shows that we have more work to do.  We’re doing it first.”

The president says in two weeks,  private insurance will cover at-home COVID tests, plus there will be access to free tests for those who don’t have insurance.  To find a location, google “covid test near me”

The president says the nation went from *no* over-the-counter COVID tests in January to 46 million in October and almost 200 million in December:

“But it’s not enough.  It’s clearly not enough.  If I’d, we’d known, we would have gone harder, quicker if we could have.”
