2021 was a good year for Agriculture.
“According to the USDA, 2021 was the best year for Ag income since 2007,” said Ag Analyst Kent Thiesse. “ It also marked a 20 percent increase in income over 2020.”
Thiesse explains why.
“There was better than expected production but also higher than expected prices for crops and livestock,” said Thiesse. “Also in 2020, near half of farm payments came from government payments and that was down to around 20 percent in 2021.”
Thiesse says, as every year, there can be a wide variation in income from producer to producer.
