COVID-19 mitigation measures are continuing within the Minnesota Court System. Blue Earth County attorney Pat McDermott says masking is a requirement in most cases, with a caveat

“There is some discretion with the judges when it comes to witnesses testifying,” said McDermott. “But for the most part everyone entering a courtroom is required to have a mask on.”

McDermott says wearing a mask does affect a person’s ability to communicate but he doesn’t believe it’s much of a deterrent as some may think.
