Applications are being accepted for the City of Mankato’s community development block grant program through 4:30 p.m., Friday, February 11. Those eligible to apply for funding are social service providers that assist low to moderate income households with the following community needs: homeless shelter bed expansion, food support, job training, medical care/health services, transportation, aging in place/chore services, landlord/tenant education and/or relationship building, affordable child care and removal of cultural barriers. Funded activities must provide a new or an expanded service level of an existing public service.

As part of this competitive process, applications will be reviewed and selected based on a number of criteria, including, but not limited to, benefiting those with low to moderate income, amount of leveraged funds, capability of organization to implement service and compliance with federal regulation. Minimum grant award is $3,000. Approximately $58,000 in funding is available, and is provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
