On February 10th, 1967 Glen Campbell's seventh studio album By The Time I Get To Phoenix hit number 1 on the U.S. Country Music Charts. The title track, written by Jimmy Webb, was originally recorded by Johnny Rivers in 1965. Although Glen's version of the song became the more popular version, hitting number 2 on the country music charts in 1968. The song also earned him two grammy's, one for Best Male Vocal Performance and one for Best Contemporary Male Solo Vocal Performance.
