On February 10th, 1967 Glen Campbell's seventh studio album By The Time I Get To Phoenix hit number 1 on the U.S. Country Music Charts. The title track, written by Jimmy Webb, was originally recorded by Johnny Rivers in 1965. Although Glen's version of the song became the more popular version, hitting number 2 on the country music charts in 1968. The song also earned him two grammy's, one for Best Male Vocal Performance and one for Best Contemporary Male Solo Vocal Performance. Blake Shelton was born in Ada, Oklahoma this day 43 years ago. Shelton would sing "Cat Scratch Fever" by Ted Nugent and "Old Time Rock 'n' Roll" by Bob Seger at pageant shows as a child. As a fresh high school graduate, Shelton moved to Nashville to start his music career. His debut single, "Austin," released in 2001, and was a hit.

Chuck Glaser of the Glaser Brothers Dead at 83

Chuck Glaser, the last living member of the Glaser Brothers, died Monday, June 10th. Charles Vernon Glaser was born in 1936 and formed the Glaser Brothers with Tompall and Jim Glaser as a teenager. Chuck was the writer of their first hit single, "Five Penny Nickel." Chuck was an army veteran, successful songwriter, and talented musician. Chuck's funeral plans have yet to be announced.
