An adult-use cannabis bill continues to make its way through the State Capitol after passing out of a House Education finance committee today (8-6 vote). Several education officials testified expressing their concerns over the bill and how it could impact youth marijuana use. Representative Ryan Winkler of Golden Valley cited several studies showing…

“There’s no evidence of any increased use of adolescents as a result of legalization.”

Representative Peggy Bennet from Albert Lea says she’s seen those studies, but…

“There are also many studies that do show that, and it’s very mixed and I have a hard time trusting either side on the data I’m getting.”

The bill has already made its way through eight House committees. The measure faces an uphill battle in the Republican-controlled Senate.
