“We really hope that the FDA will end menthol tobacco sales, because we know that doing so would promote racial justice and improve health.”

Smith says the tobacco industry has used menthol flavors in marketing for more than a half-century to racially segment and target customers–especially black Americans. It’s estimated that around 85-percent of black smokers use menthol cigarettes.
