The state legislature budget deadline is looming in less than 10 days. Assistant Senate DFL Minority Leader Nick Frentz says he doesn’t see any reason why the budget can’t be finished, even as they sort through the implications of federal stimulus.
“We’re likely to get over 2 billion dollars in 1 time federal money, but we need a little more guidance on how that is going to work to get make our best decisions with tax dollars.”
Frentz says legislators need to be held accountable if they fail to have a budget in place.
Frentz says there is no reason not to get a deal done by the end of June.
“If we have a government shutdown, you should get your torches and pitchforks and go find your legislator or the legislators who are responsible. We should finish our job.”
