The FBI says it heard from a number of people who believe they purchased a golf cart that was likely stolen by a man tied to dozens of golf cart theft in several states including Minnesota. Nathan Nelson was arrested earlier this month in Georgia. The carts were stolen from golf courses and dealerships. The FBI’s Kevin Smith in Minneapolis:
“Stole them at night and moved them around to locations. He rented some garages and rental places and just kind of stashed them that way. Anything further than that I wouldn’t want to go into based on it’s still an active investigation for us.”
Smith says Nelson, who used the alias Mason Weber, has addresses in Mankato and in Florida. He says at this point, the FBI does not intend to seize any of the stolen carts. He says in most cases, insurance claims have likely already been paid out to golf courses and dealers who were his victims.
